The Friends of Holy Trinity Monastery
§ Who are the Friends?
The Friends of Holy Trinity Monastery are exactly that: friends both lay and clerical who want to help the nuns realize their vision for the future.
§ What do the Friends do?
Some of us lend a hand with practical tasks, such as the production of audio books for the blind, work in the garden or painting and decorating. Others are trying to help raise money for more accommodation, both for the community and for visitors and guests, and are very involved with the Holy Trinity Monastery Appeal.
§ How are the Friends organized?
Membership is open to all who would like to help the nuns in any way. A committee has been formed to coordinate activities and we are delighted that Lord Nicholas Windsor has accepted our invitation to become a Patron of the Holy Trinity Monastery Appeal.
§ The Friends and the Monastery Appeal
On 24 June 2008 the Friends organized their first fund-raising event for the community: Music for Midsummer— a concert of American Classical music sung by the highly-regarded Oxford chamber choir, Jubilate!, under the direction of Simon Whalley. All agreed that it was a perfect evening: Jubilate! sang superbly and the reception afterwards was most enjoyable. See the photo gallery for some impressions of the evening. With associated donations, the total raised was a very impressive £2637.22.
